Description
Soviet Raketa perpetual calendar mechanical wrist watch
MADE IN USSR!
Raketa (Ракета, meaning “Rocket”) with a green dial that shades from lighter to darker across its face, square bronze-tone applied markers at the hours, gold-tone baton hands and a gold-tone centre seconds hand. The dial is signed «РАКЕТА» and reads «СДЕЛАНО В СССР» (Made in USSR). The day and date sit in a framed window at 3 o’clock, with the day disc in Russian (ВСК = Sunday).
The dial carries a perpetual-calendar table: a grid of weekdays and dates across the top, and a month table above a rotating year ring at 6 o’clock, turned by the second crown at 4 o’clock. Line up the current year and month and the table tells you which weekday falls on which date.
The chrome-plated case is round with broad faceted shoulders at the lugs, with a plain steel snap-on case back stamped with the number 178800.
Manufactured at the Petrodvorets Watch Factory. The dial reads «СДЕЛАНО В СССР» and the year ring is printed 1982 to 1987, which points to the early 1980s.
The watch is mechanical and does not need batteries to operate.
Original Soviet Raketa watch has mechanical lever movement and manual winding. Caliber 2628.H (the bridge is stamped 2628.H) is the Petrodvorets 19-jewel movement with centre seconds and a day / date calendar.

About the watch factory

The Petrodvorets Watch Factory «Raketa» was founded by Peter the Great in 1721. Factory was producing wide range of items, including jewels for watches since 1930.
Factory was devastated during World War 2, restored in 1949 and was making “Pobeda”(Victory) and “Zvezda” watches. In 1954 renamed into Petrodvorets Watch Factory.
Since 1962 “Raketa” watches are produced which became the trade mark of the factory.
