Pobeda — “Victory” — was born in 1946 as the watch commemorating the Soviet victory in the Second World War; legend insists Stalin approved the name and specifications personally. The brief was simple: accurate, durable, and affordable for the citizens who did the winning. Its 15-jewel movement, developed from a French LIP design, is about as simple as watchmaking gets — which is why so many still run beautifully today.
