Description
Moon dust RAKETA COPERNICUS mechanical watch
MADE IN RUSSIA!
Manufactured at the Petrodvorets Watch Factory, Russia
The grey “moon dust” textured dial and the unusual disc hands make this watch very special in any collection. The dial is a little orrery: the large ring (minute hand) is the Earth, circling the Sun once an hour the way it does once a year, and the small disc (hour hand) is Jupiter, which takes twelve hours here and about twelve years in the sky.
The trade mark ‘РАКЕТА’ (Raketa in Cyrillic) is on the dial.
The watch is mechanical and does not need batteries to operate.
Original soviet “RAKETA” has mechanical lever movement and manual winding.
This watch is from the 1990s: the dial is marked «Сделано в России» (Made in Russia) at the 6 o’clock position, while the movement still carries the “SU” (Soviet Union) stamp, a sign of the years just after the USSR dissolved.
