Description
Vostok Komandirskie (“Commander’s”) watch — 17 jewels
MADE IN USSR!
Manufactured at the Chistopol Watch Factory “Vostok”, USSR.
Командирские (Komandirskie) means “Commander’s”. The watch was built to a Soviet Ministry of Defence specification rather than sold as an ordinary civilian model.
This dial carries no “Заказ МО СССР” (Ordered by the Ministry of Defence) marking: this is the civilian Komandirskie, sold to the general public rather than through military stores.
About the Komandirskie Line
The Chistopol Watch Factory was appointed official supplier to the USSR Ministry of Defence in 1965, and the Komandirskie was created that same year. The experience gained developing the army watch led directly to the Amphibia in 1967 — the stainless-steel diver rated to 200 metres (20 atm).
The plain red-star dial is one of the classic Komandirskie designs. This one is fitted to the chrome-plated round Komandirskie case with a rotating bezel and the manual-wind calibre 2414A with date.
About This Watch
The cream dial has large black Arabic numerals, a minute track, round lume dots at the hours and a date window at 3. The circled Vostok “В” emblem and the script “Командирские” logo sit above centre, with a red star and “17 камней” (17 jewels) below. The hour and minute hands are black with lume inserts, and the central seconds hand is a thin black needle. The chrome-plated round Komandirskie case carries a bezel with red markings on the left half and black on the right, with a knurled edge. The steel case back, held by a retaining ring, is engraved with a rising sun and a gull over the water and marked “Водонепроницаемые” (water resistant), with the serial number 104313. Vostok case-back numbers are serials, not date codes, and nothing on the watch gives a production year, so we do not give one. Inside is a Vostok calibre 2414A: 17 jewels, manual wind, central seconds and date. We identified it by its date function and bridge layout; no calibre stamp is visible in the photos.

Condition Report
Good vintage condition. The dial is clean, with complete printing; the lume dots and hand inserts have aged evenly to a cream tone. The chrome plating on the case front and lugs is bright, with light handling marks. The bezel has light scratches, and the plating on its knurled edge has worn to a gold tone. The case back ring and the underside of the case show heavy plating loss with brass showing through and pitting; this is hidden on the wrist. The case back has light surface scratches. The bracelet has light wear and the clasp has fine scratches.

This watch has recently been serviced by a professional watchmaker and keeps good time.

Why Collectors Want This Watch Today
The Komandirskie is one of the best-known Soviet watch designs, and plenty were made, so the appeal is the watch rather than scarcity. The cream dial with the red star is the plain, purposeful Komandirskie look: big legible numerals, lume and a date. The chrome case and red-and-black bezel are the classic combination, and the 2414A is a simple, robust manual-wind movement with date that any watchmaker can service. The bezel can be swapped for the optional black diver’s bezel if you want a more military look.
