Soviet mechanical Svet wrist watch, 17 jewels
MADE IN USSR!
Svet (Свет, meaning “Light”) with a clean white dial: large black serif Arabic numerals at every hour, a fine minute track, the script Svet signature under 12 and black baton hands with a slim centre seconds hand. “Сделано в СССР” (Made in USSR) is printed along the bottom edge. The chrome-plated cushion case has broad polished flanks and a plain steel snap-on case back.
Svet watches were assembled in Leningrad from movements and parts made at the Petrodvorets Watch Factory, the maker of Raketa. This dial carries no EChL pentagon logo, which fits the later production after 1975; together with the 2609.НА movement and the cushion case, that places the watch in the 1970s–80s.
The watch is mechanical and does not need batteries to operate.
Original Soviet Svet watch has mechanical lever movement and manual winding. Caliber 2609.НА is the Petrodvorets 17-jewel centre-seconds movement with shock protection on the balance; the ПЧЗ factory mark is stamped on the bridge.

About the watch factory
The Petrodvorets Watch Factory «Raketa» was founded by Peter the Great in 1721. Factory was producing wide range of items, including jewels for watches since 1930.
Factory was devastated during World War 2, restored in 1949 and was making “Pobeda”(Victory) and “Zvezda” watches. In 1954 renamed into Petrodvorets Watch Factory.
Since 1962 “Raketa” watches are produced which became the trade mark of the factory.
The Petrodvorets Watch Factory is one of the rare watch factories in the world that fully manufactures its own movements from A to Z, including hairspring and escapement.
Other band names produced on the factory include Baltika, Leningrad, Mayak, Neva, Pobeda, Raketa, Rossiya, Svet, Start.
