Description
Soviet Luch Perestroika quartz watch
MADE IN USSR!
A quartz wristwatch made by the LUCH factory in Minsk in the Perestroika years, when the USSR and its symbols became the subject of the watch dial itself.
The white dial reads «PERESTROIKA» (Perestroika – “restructuring”, the name of Gorbachev’s reform programme of the late 1980s) in Latin capitals arched over a winged emblem with a red star at its centre. Below the hands sit a row of four red stars and the letters “CCCP” (USSR). Black Roman numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 with black baton and triangle markers in between, black hour and minute hands and a slim black centre seconds hand. The dial itself carries no factory name.
Original LUCH watch with a quartz movement that runs on a single LR921 button cell. The movement is the Luch-made calibre 2356, stamped “L2356” on its bridge.
