Description
Soviet mechanical Slava wrist watch with day & date, 26 jewels
MADE IN USSR!
Classic round Slava with a deep black dial and large printed Roman numerals in silvery white, a white minute track around the edge, lumed baton hands, a slim white seconds hand and a day-date window at 3 o’clock – the Sunday shown in red.
Lovely vintage watch made by 2nd Moscow Watch factory, USSR.
The dial is signed in English – “SLAVA”, “26 JEWELS”, “MADE IN USSR” – the export version, while the day disc reads in Russian (ПНД, ВТР, СРД, ЧТВ, ПТН, СБТ, ВСК). The round chrome-plated case has a steel snap-on case back stamped 503. The chrome is worn through to the brass underneath at the lug tips and around the rim at the back of the case, and the case back shows light scratches – please see the photos.
The watch is mechanical and does not need batteries to operate.
Original Soviet Slava watch has mechanical lever movement and manual winding. Caliber 2428 runs on two mainspring barrels – a Slava speciality – and shows the weekday and the date side by side. The small pusher at 2 o’clock advances the date quickly.

About the watch factory

Slava (Russian: Cлава, meaning “Glory”) watches were classic “civil” Russian watches commonly referred to as “Slava Lava!”.
The Slava factory (known originally as the Second Moscow Watch Factory) was the second non-military watch maker established in the Soviet Union, in 1924.
The watches of this brand have always been meant for civilian consumption, without military or aerospace pretensions. As of today the factory no longer produces.
