Description

Soviet automatic Slava wrist watch with day & date, 27 jewels

MADE IN USSR!

Bold Slava day-date watch with a green gradient dial, gold-tone faceted hour markers and a day-date window at 3 o’clock.

Lovely vintage watch made by 2nd Moscow Watch factory, USSR.

The dial is signed in English – “SLAVA”, “27 jewels”, “MADE USSR” – the version made for export. The chrome-plated case has a faceted, cushion-shaped profile with a brushed bezel, and the steel case back is marked “Противоударные / Автоподзавод” (shockproof / self-winding) with the state quality mark and a serial number – see the case-back photos.

The watch is mechanical and does not need batteries to operate – it winds itself from the movement of your wrist.

Original Soviet Slava watch has a mechanical lever movement with automatic winding. Caliber 2427 is a double-barrel automatic with 27 jewels and shows the weekday and the date side by side. The small pusher at 2 o’clock advances the date quickly.

About the watch factory

Slava (Russian: Cлава, meaning “Glory”) watches were classic “civil” Russian watches commonly referred to as “Slava Lava!”.

The Slava factory (known originally as the Second Moscow Watch Factory) was the second non-military watch maker established in the Soviet Union, in 1924.

The watches of this brand have always been meant for civilian consumption, without military or aerospace pretensions. As of today the factory no longer produces.
