Description
Black RAKETA COPERNICUS mechanical watch
MADE IN USSR!
Manufactured at the Petrodvorets Watch Factory, USSR
The black dial with its brushed gold Sun disc, gold screw-head markers and the unusual disc hands, all set in a black case, make this watch very special in any collection. The dial is a little orrery: the large ring (minute hand) is the Earth, circling the Sun once an hour the way it does once a year, and the small disc (hour hand) is Jupiter, which takes twelve hours here and about twelve years in the sky.
The trade mark ‘РАКЕТА’ (Raketa in Cyrillic) is on the dial.
The watch is mechanical and does not need batteries to operate.
Original soviet “RAKETA” has mechanical lever movement and manual winding.
This is a Soviet-made Copernicus: the dial is marked «Сделано в СССР» (Made in USSR) at the 6 o’clock position and the movement carries the “SU” stamp.
CASE SIZE 41.5x38mm (with crown)
LUG WIDTH 18mm
CRYSTAL Acrylic

This watch has recently been serviced by a professional watchmaker and keeps good time.
CONDITION: the dial and hands are clean. The black-coated case shows honest wear: the coating has rubbed through to the brass on the bezel edge, the lug tips and the case sides, and there is a chip in the case edge next to the case-back opening notch. The steel case back has light scratches.
Comes complete with a new Nagata leather strap.
