Vintage Soviet MIR slim mechanical wrist watch
MADE IN USSR!
The Mir brand (Мир, meaning “world” or “peace”) was introduced in 1957. This line of watches debuted the caliber 2209 movement, an enormously successful 18-jewel caliber which would go on to power millions of Chistopol watches, from the most elegant dress watches to the most hardy divers.
The watch is mechanical and does not need batteries to operate.

About Mir brand
Mir / Мир
After World War II, the Chistopol Watch Factory focused heavily on wristwatch production. This lead to a proliferation of discrete brands in the 1950s, all powered by Chistopol movements. These brands included Almaz, Chaika, Druzhba, Kama, Kolos, Mir, Pobeda, Raduga, Rubin, Saturn, Sputnik, Uran, Volna, Vostok, and Yantar.
The Mir brand (Мир, meaning “world” or “peace”) was introduced in 1960. This line of watches debuted the caliber 2209 movement, an enormously successful 18-jewel caliber which would go on to power millions of Chistopol watches, from the most elegant dress watches to the most hardy divers. Rarer Mir variants include those with calendar complications, those intended for export, and alarm clocks.
The Mir brand was retired around 1964, when the vast majority of brands from the Chistopol Watch Factory were consolidated under a single trademark: Vostok.
