Description

Soviet Luch “Medicine” quartz watch with pulse scale

MADE IN USSR!

A doctor’s watch from the “Luch” factory in Minsk. The off-white dial carries the Bowl of Hygieia, the emblem of medicine and pharmacy, under the “кварц” (quartz) signature, with a red pulse scale running around both sides of the dial.

The scale is marked GRADATUS AD XV PULSUS, Latin for “graduated for 15 pulse beats”. Start counting as the seconds hand passes the line at 12 or 6, stop on the 15th beat, and the hand points to the pulse rate in beats per minute. No arithmetic needed at the bedside.

Condition: the dial shows age spotting, mostly towards the edge between 7 and 9 o’clock and around 4 o’clock. The chrome-plated case has light wear and a small ding on the side at 9 o’clock. The bracelet shows normal wear for its age.

The watch has quartz movement and runs on single battery.
