A gift for board-game fans!
About This Set
A late-Soviet checkers (draughts) set, «Шашки», made by the Kiev EPK (Киевский ЭПК) of Goskomsport of the Ukrainian SSR, the republic’s State Sports Committee, at 38 Andriivskyi Descent in Kyiv. The case lid is moulded with the word «ШАШКИ» set into a chequerboard, one letter per square.
The original factory label is still glued inside the lid. It gives the standard (OST 6-19-239-83), the article number ШA 3/2-КГ, the contents («Фишки — 24 шт.», 24 pieces) and the fixed Soviet retail price of 85 kopecks, and it carries a purple packer’s stamp and a triangular OTK quality-control stamp. The label was printed in July 1990, so the set dates from around 1990.
