Description
Raketa perpetual calendar mechanical wrist watch
MADE IN RUSSIA
Raketa (Ракета, meaning “Rocket”) with a deep blue sunburst dial that lightens towards the centre in daylight, square bronze-tone applied markers at the hours, white-filled baton hands and a slender centre seconds hand. The dial is signed in script «Ракета» and reads «СДЕЛАНО В РОССИИ» (Made in Russia). The day and date sit in a framed window at 3 o’clock, with the day disc in Russian (ВСК = Sunday).
The dial carries a perpetual-calendar table: a grid of weekdays and dates across the top, and a month table above a rotating year ring at 6 o’clock, turned by the second crown at 4 o’clock. Line up the current year and month and the table tells you which weekday falls on which date.
The chrome-plated case is round with broad faceted shoulders at the lugs, with a plain steel snap-on case back stamped with the number 164.
Manufactured at the Petrodvorets Watch Factory. The dial reads «СДЕЛАНО В РОССИИ» and the year ring starts at 1992, which places this watch in the 1990s, after the break-up of the USSR; the movement still carries the “SU” (Soviet Union) stamp, so it is a Soviet-era movement in a post-Soviet watch.
The watch is mechanical and does not need batteries to operate.
Original Raketa watch has mechanical lever movement and manual winding. Caliber 2628.H (stamped on the bridge) is the Petrodvorets 19-jewel movement with centre seconds and a day / date calendar.

The steel case back and the bracelet have scratches from use, and a few bracelet links show dark marks.
This watch has recently been serviced by a professional watchmaker and keeps good time.

About the watch factory

The Petrodvorets Watch Factory «Raketa» was founded by Peter the Great in 1721. Factory was producing wide range of items, including jewels for watches since 1930.
Factory was devastated during World War 2, restored in 1949 and was making “Pobeda”(Victory) and “Zvezda” watches. In 1954 renamed into Petrodvorets Watch Factory.
Since 1962 “Raketa” watches are produced which became the trade mark of the factory.
The Petrodvorets Watch Factory is one of the rare watch factories in the world that fully manufactures its own movements from A to Z, including hairspring and escapement.
Other band names produced on the factory include Baltika, Leningrad, Mayak, Neva, Pobeda, Raketa, Rossiya, Svet, Start.
