Raketa mechanical wrist watch with cream dial and embossed Arabic numerals
MADE IN RUSSIA
Raketa (Ракета, meaning “Rocket”) with a cream textured dial and a full set of large embossed Arabic numerals from 1 to 12, set around a cross-hatched centre disc framed by a fine gold-tone ring. Black baton hands and a black centre seconds hand, with a black minute track and bold markers at the five-minute positions. The dial is signed «РАКЕТА» (Raketa in Cyrillic) and marked «Сделано в России» (Made in Russia) at 6 o’clock.
The round chrome-plated case has straight, slightly flared lugs and a plain steel snap-on case back with no markings.
Manufactured at the Petrodvorets Watch Factory. The dial reads «Сделано в России» while the movement still carries the “SU” (Soviet Union) stamp, which places this watch in the 1990s, the years just after the USSR dissolved.
The watch is mechanical and does not need batteries to operate.
Original Raketa watch has mechanical lever movement and manual winding. Caliber 2609.HA (stamped on the bridge together with the factory logo) is the Petrodvorets 19-jewel movement with centre seconds.

CONDITION: The dial is clean, with a light even mellowing of the cream finish. The chrome plating on the case shows wear on the bezel edge and the lug tips, with small corrosion spots on the case side near 8 o’clock and on the back rim (see the case-back photos). The steel case back has light scratches.
This watch has recently been serviced by a professional watchmaker and keeps good time.
Comes complete with a new black leather strap.

About the watch factory
The Petrodvorets Watch Factory «Raketa» was founded by Peter the Great in 1721. Factory was producing wide range of items, including jewels for watches since 1930.
Factory was devastated during World War 2, restored in 1949 and was making “Pobeda”(Victory) and “Zvezda” watches. In 1954 renamed into Petrodvorets Watch Factory.
Since 1962 “Raketa” watches are produced which became the trade mark of the factory.
The Petrodvorets Watch Factory is one of the rare watch factories in the world that fully manufactures its own movements from A to Z, including hairspring and escapement.
Other band names produced on the factory include Baltika, Leningrad, Mayak, Neva, Pobeda, Raketa, Rossiya, Svet, Start.
