Lovely vintage watch made by Vesna (Pensa Watch Factory).
The watch is mechanical and does not need batteries to operate.
Original Soviet Vesna watch has mechanical lever movement and manual winding.

About the brand
Vesna / Весна
The Vesna brand (Весна, meaning “spring”) was a successful and prolific brand until the early-1960s. Vesnas also represented some of the first and only men’s watches to be produced at Penza Watch Factory. The brand was retired around 1964, when all watches produced at Penza Watch Factory were consolidated under a single trademark: Zaria.

About the watch factory
In early 1930s there were already two functioning watch factories. In 1935 decision was made to build another factory to produce women’s watches.
After long negotiations french equipment LIP was purchased and the construction of factory begins in Penza(on Penza bicycle factory). In 1938 the first watches were produced.
The factory produced mainly womens watches of small caliber movements. However, some men’s watches were also produced.
All watches were branded “Zarya” only after 1965.
Other watches produced on the factory: «ЗИФ», «Звезда», «Победа», «Аврора», «Комета», «Мечта», «Весна», «Рассвет».
