Description

Vostok Komandirskie (“Commander’s”) watch — 17 jewels

MADE IN USSR!

Manufactured at the Chistopol Watch Factory “Vostok”, USSR.

Командирские (Komandirskie) means “Commander’s”. The watch was built to a Soviet Ministry of Defence specification rather than sold as an ordinary civilian model.

“Заказ МО СССР” on the dial reads “Ordered by the Ministry of Defence of the USSR”. Watches carrying that marking were distributed through Voentorg military stores to servicemen with identification, rather than sold over the counter to the general public.

About the Komandirskie Line

The Chistopol Watch Factory was appointed official supplier to the USSR Ministry of Defence in 1965, and the Komandirskie was created that same year. The experience gained developing the army watch led directly to the Amphibia in 1967 — the stainless-steel diver rated to 200 metres (20 atm).

Alongside the standard dials, Vostok made Komandirskie with commemorative dials marking Soviet anniversaries. This one marks the 45th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, with the dates 1945–1990 and a soldier raising a red banner with a gold star.

About This Watch

A Vostok Komandirskie in the chrome-plated round case with a crown-guard shoulder at 3 o’clock. The silver sunburst dial carries a red banner with a soldier and a gold star, the dates 1945–1990 printed in black beside it, the Командирские script and «Заказ МО СССР» at the bottom. It has black baton markers with cream lume dots, lumed sword hands and a date window at 3. The rotating bezel has the red and black notched insert with a red pip at 12.

The screw-down steel case back reads «Водонепроницаемые» (water-resistant) and serial 505825. Inside is the Vostok 2414A, a 17-jewel manual-wind calibre with date. The stamp 2414A SU is visible on the movement plate. The 1945–1990 dial dates the watch to the 1990 Victory Day anniversary.

Condition Report

The dial is in good order, with the red banner and printing crisp. There are a few small marks on the silver surface and the lume dots have aged to an even cream. The hands match the dial. The bezel turns, and its red and black insert shows light wear on the edges. The chrome plating has wear at the lug tips and on the case underside, where brass shows through, as is normal for a plated Komandirskie of this age. The acrylic crystal is clear, with light surface wear. The steel bracelet shows light scratches from use.

Silver sunburst dial with red Victory banner, soldier and gold star, baton markers and date at 3

Writing in Russian on the dial:

1945–1990 — 45th anniversary of Victory
Командирские — Komandirskie (“Commander’s”)
Заказ МО СССР — Ordered by the Ministry of Defence of the USSR

17 КАМНЕЙ — 17 JEWELS

Why Collectors Want This Watch Today

The Komandirskie is the classic Soviet army watch: built to a Ministry of Defence specification, simple to service and tough enough for daily wear. A commemorative dial ties this one to a specific moment, the 1990 Victory Day anniversary, one of the last major Soviet anniversaries before the USSR dissolved in 1991. It is a wearable piece of late-Soviet history on a matching steel bracelet.
