Description
Vostok Komandirskie (“Commander’s”) watch — 17 jewels
MADE IN USSR!
Manufactured at the Chistopol Watch Factory “Vostok”, USSR.
Командирские (Komandirskie) means “Commander’s”. The watch was built to a Soviet Ministry of Defence specification rather than sold as an ordinary civilian model.
“Заказ МО СССР” on the dial reads “Ordered by the Ministry of Defence of the USSR”. Watches carrying that marking were distributed through Voentorg military stores to servicemen with identification, rather than sold over the counter to the general public.
About the Komandirskie Line
The Chistopol Watch Factory was appointed official supplier to the USSR Ministry of Defence in 1965, and the Komandirskie was created that same year. The experience gained developing the army watch led directly to the Amphibia in 1967 — the stainless-steel diver rated to 200 metres (20 atm).
This example is the classic round-case Komandirskie in chrome-plated brass, with the notched rotating bezel carrying a red 12 o’clock pip and a red triangle at 9 — the everyday army configuration rather than the later stainless or 24-hour variants.
About This Watch
A black-dial “Заказ МО СССР” Komandirskie: large luminous Arabic numerals, lume dots at the hours, the Vostok “В” emblem under 12, a red star above “17 КАМНЕЙ”, and a date aperture at 3 o’clock. Luminous sword hands with a central seconds hand carrying a lume pip. The case is the familiar round Komandirskie case with angular lug shoulders, chrome-plated over brass, with a notched rotating bezel and a steel case back stamped “ВОДОНЕПРОНИЦАЕМЫЕ” (water-resistant) and the serial 318074.

Condition Report
The dial is clean and even, with all numerals, printing and the red star intact; the lume has aged to a pale green. Hands are straight with their lume intact. The case shows honest wear for an army watch: surface scratches on the chrome, plating worn through to the brass along the case-back rim and around the 10 o’clock edge of the bezel, and some discolouration on the case flanks by the crown. The bezel’s red 12 o’clock pip and 9 o’clock triangle are both present. The case back has light scratches with the markings fully legible.

This watch has recently been serviced by a professional watchmaker and keeps good time.
