Rare soviet mechanical Raduga (Радуга, “Rainbow”) – precision soviet watch!

MADE IN USSR

 

Manufactured in 1960’s by Vostok Factory in Chistopol.

 

Soviet copy of ZENITH CHRONOMETER Cal. 135 which was launched by LeLocle, Switzerland in 1948.

The mechanical 22 ruby jewels precision movement USSR wristwatches “RADUGA”. It is undoubtedly the best Soviet wristwatches ever made. The Soviet movement retained all of the key features and characteristics of the Zenith cal. 135. Nevertheless the Soviet watchmakers sought to improve the Swiss design, by adding 3 additional jewels, to arrive at the current 22-jewel movement. The 22-jewel movement used exclusively for the “Vostok Precision” line & the “Raduga” (Raibow) series of watches. To date, these were the ONLY chronometer-capable mechanical watch movements ever manufactured in the Soviet Union and is highly valued nowadays by the watch collectors and watch enthusiasts.

 

The watch is mechanical and does not need batteries to operate.

About the watch factory

Watch Factory “VOSTOK” – began as the “2nd State Watch Factory” was evacuated during World War 2 to Chistopol in 1941.
In 1943 began producing Kirovskie watch – first soviet man’s wrist watch earlier made on 1st Moscow Watch Factory. From 1949 famous “Podeba” watches were made here.
From 1962 “Commander’s” watch Vostok were made on the factory.
Since 1969 factory was official supplier of Ministry of Defence, all watches produced were branded as “Vostok”
