About the watch factory
About ZiM watch factory
Factory was located in the town of Samara (previously called Kuibischev) and produced pipes and parts for artillery shells since 1909. After bolshevik revolution of 1917 it was named after the revolutionary Maslennikov.
Watches were produced on factory since 1937. During World War II it was making artillery shells as well.
After 1951 watch production resumes under the trade names ‘POBEDA’ (Победа) and” ZIM”.
These later Pobeda watches should not be confused with those produced in the 1950s in the Moscow Factories.
The ZIM Factory struggled following the collapse of the USSR(1990s) and has since closed down in early 2000s with the loss of jobs in the local area.
